Football
Not only have they finally been able to return to playing home games on campus, but they have a winning record halfway through the season as they are currently 3-2 after back-to-back wins defeating Gavilan 52-6 and Merced 49-24. Sophomore Ubedei McGautha has thrown for 805 yards and seven touchdowns leading an offense that is currently averaging over 33 points a game. Maurice Griffin Jr. has led the ground attack with 399 yards and seven touchdowns on 63 carries. They are on the road for their next two games before returning home on October 25th to take on Siskiyous at 1:00pm.
Women's Volleyball
Molly Hummel has her team once again off to an incredible start to the season as they have won nine straight and currently 17-1 on the season. With just the one loss so far this season the Mustangs have barely even dropped a set as 14 of their wins so far have come in straight sets. Taking a look at the state leaders for stats you will see multiple Mustangs including Hadlee Gray who is currently two kills away from hitting 300 already for the season. Sophomore Paige Taylor leads the team and the state with an average over 11 assists per set. Currently 6-0 in Big 8 Conference play they will host Sierra on Wednesday night at 6:00 pm.
Men's Soccer
Starting the season off with four straight wins and unbeaten through their first seven games they are currently 6-2-3 with Big 8 Conference play now underway. Six players have scored at least two goals this season led by a pair of freshmen as Jordan Lazaro has led the way with six goals and Mauricio Gomez has put in four. Cameron Duff and Luis David Pineda have shared time in goal. Making their most of the opportunities to play at home they are tough to beat in front of the home fans as they are currently 5-1-1 in games at home at after a road game on Tuesday, they return home on Friday to take on MJC at 4:00 pm.
Women's Soccer
A road filled start to the season has them 2-3-2 with Big 8 Conference play starting this week with two more road games. Sophomore Macie Jarquin has a team-best three goals while Ellie Keiser and Samantha Arong have two goals each. Elaynna Flores and Hannah Fink have split time in goal for the Mustangs. Winners of both of their home games this season they will return home after a five-game road trip to host Diablo Valley College on Tuesday October 13th with a 4:00 pm start.
Men's Water Polo
Off to a 5-8-2 start to the season the Mustangs started Big 8 Conference play with a pair of losses. Losing three players from last year's team that combined to score 300 goals has left some big spots to fill but some opportunities for players to step up and no one has done more so than sophomore Mateo McKay. McKay leads the Mustangs in multiple categories as he has scored 27 goals to go along with 15 assists, seven steals, and 16 exclusions drawn. Freshmen Ryan Delay has 18 goals to go along with 12 steals. A road filled month of October only sees them play at home once on Wednesday the 22nd at 3:30 pm.
Women's Water Polo
Opening the month by hosting some of the top teams from Southern California they currently have a two-game winning streak, 7-9 overall, and 2-1 in Big 8 Conference play. Sophomore Laine Woodard leads the team with 15 goals and 13 steals while four others have scored at least seven goals. Kylie Richardson has spent the bulk of time in the cage, and she has already recorded 50 saves this season. They are back at home on Wednesday the 22nd to take on Diablo Valley College.
Men's Wrestling
While the team finished in ninth place at the Dave Pacheco Invitational with top eight finishes from George Holquin, Miguel Cocio, and Louie Rojas. Jacob Maldonado had the best showing for the team as he finished in fourth place in his weight class.
Women's Golf
Ending the month of September at the Big Maloney Golf Course the Mustangs as a team finished in third as they were led by Alyssa Quilao who shot a 76 and finished in second place overall. Aubrey Reyes shot a second best 83. Earlier in the month at Madera Country Club they finished in fifth place as a team once again led by Quilao who had a top three individual performance.
Cross Country
Opening up the season at the State Preview Meet in Fresno the men's team finished in 14th place led by Michael Pelaez while the women's team finished in 16th place led by Francisca Eguiluz-Serrano. Later in the month at the Kyle Robinson Twilight Meet they saw top five performances from both Pelaez and Eguiluz-Serrano along with Alex Cuevas as they continue to set personal records every time out.
