The student athlete center known as “The Zone” was created to supply student athletes a dedicated study area that provides one-on-one tutoring, workshops, and computer resources. It is located on the second floor of the Budd Building in room 205.

The center is a service to assist student athletes in achieving their academic goals while participating in the athletics programs here at San Joaquin Delta College. Coaches, counselors and instructional support assistants help students to develop effective study habits and learning techniques specific to the subjects being tutored.

All student athletes are required to attend the zone for a minimum of three hours per week. However, some coaches may opt to require more hours. In order to receive priority registration for the following semester this requirement must be met.

Here’s what our student-athletes say about The Zone:

“The Zone gives me a place to get my work done during the day so I can focus on practice without having to worry about homework after.”

  • Connor Ryan (Men’s Water Polo and Swimming)

”The Zone is a great area for our athletes because it makes us accountable and helps keep us focused on our academics.”

  • Amanda Simonich (Women’s Soccer)

“The zone is a great environment to help us learn. It provides us with books, computer resources and access to the internet so we can research.”

  • A.J. Kahlon (Men’s Basketball)
