Bologna homers twice as Mustangs top Seahawks 11-3 in Aptos.

Vinny Bologna delivered two monstrous home runs in park that seldom yields home runs. His solo shot in the eighth put the Mustangs up 6-2, and his three run shot in the ninth put the game out of reach. His home runs were his 6th and 7th on the year which lead the Big 8 conference. Jimmy McCleneghan and Zack Mathis had two hits apiece as the Mustangs collected 13 hits on the day.

Robert Gasser improved his record to 6-0 by allowing two unearned runs in six innings of work. Noah Denoyer earned his first save of the year by throwing the final three innings. Denoyer allowed one unearned run while striking out four.

Centerfielder Dario Gomez made the defensive play of the day. With the bases loaded and  one out in a 4-2 game, Gomez made a diving catch on a sinking line drive. He then got up and threw to second doubling off the Seahawk base runner and ending the threat.

With the win the Mustangs improve to 17-4 while Cabrillo falls to 13-7. The two teams conclude the three game series Friday at 2:30.
