Mustangs score early and often in 18-3 victory over Hawks

Delta's offense didn't take any time getting going. The Mustangs scored two in the first and second innings, followed by seven in the third and five in the fourth in route to an 18-3 victory over the Hawks. Zack Mathis led the way by going 3-4 with five rbi including a towering three run home run. Vinny Bologna and Jimmy McCleneghan drove in three runs a piece, and Dillon Tatum drove in two.

Robert Gasser battled the flu but was able to go five innings to improve his record to 11-0. Gasser allowed two earned runs while striking out five to improve his season total 93. He is second in the Big 8 in strikeouts behind teammate Kevin Kyle (95). Delta's bullpen threw four scoreless innings of relief with Joey Morris, Zach McHone, Nick Dentoni and Troy Wentworth combining for five more strikeouts.

The win improves Delta's overall record to 30-6 and 16-4 in the Big 8. Cosumnes River falls to 21-14 and 9-11 in the Big 8. The two teams will conclude their three game series on Saturday at CRC at 1:00.
