The second ranked Wolverines came in to Stockton Tuesday and left with a 5-3 win and the lead in the Big 8 standings. Sierra scored five runs in five innings verse starter Kevin Kyle despite Kyle only giving up six hits while striking out eight. Unfortunately, four of those hits went for extra bases including two doubles and two home runs. The bullpen was solid again with Troy Wentworth and Gunner Mayer combining for four scoreless innings.

The Mustangs took a 1-0 lead in the first on an rbi ground out by Zack Mathis. Sierra answered with two runs in the top of the second on sacrifice fly and a solo home run. Delta would answer with two runs in the bottom of the second with two runs on a rbi single from Taison Corio and a double steal of home by Corio. Unfortunately, that was all the offense the Mustangs could muster and Sierra tied the game with a solo home run in the third and a two run single in the fifth for a 5-3 lead they would not relinquish. Delta managed just six hits on the day with Taison Corio the only player with two.

The win moves Sierra into first place with a 10-3 record in the Big 8 and a 22-5 overall record. Delta falls to 7-3 in the Big 8 and 21-5 overall. The two teams will meet again on Thursday.
