2019 Delta College Players taken in the Major League Baseball Draft

Five former and current Mustangs were taken in this year's 2019 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft:

Beau Philip was selected in the 2ndround by the Atlanta Braves out of Oregon State this year after being named an All American on Delta's 2018 State Championship team.

Gunner Mayer was selected in the 5thround by the Philadelphia Phillies. As a freshman at Delta College this year his fastball was clocked up to 95 mph. As a closer he recorded 48 strikeouts in 37 innings for an 11.47 strikeouts per 9 innings. 

Fineas Del-Bonta Smith was selected in the 22ndround by the Colorado Rockies after spending the last two season as San Jose State's closer. He had a similar role at Delta in 2017.

Nick Avila was picked in the 26th round by the San Francisco Giants. Avila moved into a role in the starting rotation at Long Beach State making seven starts in Big West play and posting a 3.19 ERA over those starts. Nick was the #1 starter on Delta's 2018 State Championship team.

Zack Mathis was picked in the 38thround by the Minnesota Twins. The All American shortstop at Delta this year will most likely forego professional baseball this year to attend LSU or Texas Tech.
