Mustangs Beat Folsom Lake 16-7

Mustangs get back in win column with 16-7 win over Folsom Lake

 

Delta overcame a rough start to put away Folsom Lake and get back to their winning ways. Kevin Kyle took the mound and surrendered three unearned runs in the first inning on a two out homerun by Clayton Borges. Kyle would settle in after that going four more scoreless innings to improve his record to 6-2 on the year. His final line included seven strikeouts, no earned runs, on five hits.

 

Joey Morris threw a scoreless sixth, Jonathon Pierce gave up two runs in two innings of work and Zach McHone allowed two runs in the ninth.

 

Jimmy McCleneghan got the offense started with a two rbi double in the third inning to cut the lead to 3-2. Dillon Tatum put the Mustangs on top with a three run homer run in the fourth. Delta would score seven times in the inning and score six more times in the sixth to put the game out of reach.

 

The return of Tatum (back) and Taison Corio (concussion) brought life back to the Mustangs line up. Tatum drove in four runs and scored twice, while Corio went 2-4 with three runs scored and an rbi. Multi-hit also games came from McCleneghan, Mathis, Bologna.

 

With the win the Mustangs improve to 9-4 in Big 8 play and 23-6 overall. Folsom falls to 4-9 and 14-13 overall. The two teams will meet again at Delta College on Thursday at 2:30 with Folsom Lake scheduled as the home team as their field is unplayable.
