Before joining Delta College, Coach Peters enjoyed success at all of his previous stops. In Peters' four seasons at Feather River College he compiled impressive totals which include: 107-58 record, two conference championships, four straight top twenty rankings and playoff appearances, three coach of the year honors (2005, 2006, & 2007), and an unprecedented 25-0 Golden Valley Conference record in 2007.

1999-2003 was spent at the Air Force Academy. After spending 1999 as an assistant coach, Peters took over as head coach from 2000-2003. The 2002 Mountain West Conference Coach of the Year, Peters, in his first three seasons at Air Force won more conference games than any other Falcon coach in their first three seasons. Peters won 28 league games in three seasons, passing the record of Joe Robison and Eric

Campbell, who each won 24 games in his first three seasons. Peters won 73 games overall from 2000-02, the second most by a Falcon baseball coach in the first three seasons. Peters led the Falcons to back-to-back 23-win seasons in 2000 and 2001 and to 27 in 2001. In all he won 88 games in four years at the Academy.

Peters' coaching career began at his alma mater, UNLV, where he was an assistant coach. In 1994, he left UNLV to take the head coaching job at Colby Community College in Colby, Kansas. In his four seasons at Colby, Peters posted a 123-80 record for a .600 winning percentage. In his first season, he led the Trojans to the Region VI Championship, the first and only championship in the school's 50+ years. His 1996 team was the west sub-region runner-up while his 1997 team was the west region conference runner-up.

A 1984 graduate of Cherry Creek High School in Denver, CO he was one of only three people in the school's history to earn four varsity letters in baseball. A member of Cherry Creek's first state championship teams in football and baseball, Peters received all-state honors in both sports, and was inducted into the Cherry Creek High School Hall of Fame in 2006. He earned three letters playing centerfield at UNLV from 1985-87, while starting and playing every inning of every game prior to signing professionally after his junior year. Peters earned All-Big West honors in 1986 and 1987 and led the league in home runs with 18 in 1987. Peters was equally impressive in the classroom as he earned GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-American honors in 1986. Peters earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from UNLV in 1992 and his Masters Degree in Sports Administration from the United States Sports Academy in 2005.

Following his collegiate career, Peters was a 12th-round draft choice of the California Angels in June, 1987. He played five years in the Angels' organization: 1987 Salem, Oregon (Short A), 1988 Palm Springs, Calif., (High A), 1989 Midland, Texas (AA) and 1990 and 1991 Edmonton, Alberta (AAA). He then spent two seasons in the San Francisco Giants organization playing for Shreveport, La. (AA) and the Phoenix Firebirds (AAA) in 1992. He spent the entire 1993 season with the Firebirds, followed by a season of winter ball in San Pedro de Marcoris of the Dominican Republic. He finished his professional career hitting over .300 four times. Most of his time was in the outfield, however he played all nine positions during his pro career.

Baseball runs in the family as Peters' twin brother, Rex, was the head assistant baseball coach at UCLA. Rex played in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization from 1989-92, Reed's father, Rex, Sr., was with the Baltimore Orioles organization from 1962-65. His brother-in-law, John Orton, was a major league catcher with the Angels and a roving catching instructor for the Chicago White Sox.

Peters, and his wife, Audrey, have three sons: Cade (26), Beau (23) and Drew (18). Cade is an Assistant Coach at Delta, Beau attends Fresno State University, and Drew will be a freshman on the Delta Baseball Team this year.
