Softball Preview
Coming off of a 2024 season that saw the Mustangs go 40-6 and reach the 3C2A semifinals the expectations are once again high this season for the Mustangs softball team as they open their season this afternoon in Reedley.

In the 3CFCA Preseason State Rankings Poll released last week the Mustangs were in the second spot overall, and top team from Northern California, and a big reason why is the returning right arm in the circle of pitcher Ariel Nava

Nava last season was a workhorse in the circle for the Mustangs as she went 30-5 with a 1.43 ERA. In 230.2 innings pitched she struck out 221 while also picking up two saves. After her performance last season Nava earned multiple honors including being named an All-American and during the offseason she committed to playing next year at the University of the Pacific.

Offensively the Mustangs return four players that drove in at least ten runs last season led by Kennedy Dingman who hit .336 with 29 runs batted in. Tara Fornaciari also returns after hitting .285 with 24 runs batted in during her first season with the Mustangs.

With an even bigger roster this season it has head coach Jim Fisher excited to see who steps up to make an impact this season with all the depth and options he has to put in the starting lineup on a daily basis.

The Mustangs will start their season playing their home games once again at the University of the Pacific before hopefully returning back to the Delta campus to play home games later in the season.
