Mustangs Vs. Folsom Lake College

The Mustangs hosted Folsom Lake College to kick off the second half of conference play. After an exciting first leg of the match up that ended in a 1-0 win for Folsom Lake (10-3-1), the Mustangs were hungry for redemption on home turf. It was Her's team leading 10th assist of the season. 4 minutes later in the 17th minute, Her and Staples would combine again this time Staples returning the favor as the two forwards used tight defense high up the field to win the ball and go to goal. Staples picked the ball off an unsuspecting center back and laid it perfectly to an on rushing Jay Her who did not miss the one vs chance with the goalkeeper. Folsom Lake would not go quietly, scoring on a penalty kick just before the half time break. The back line had their hands full through out the match but proved to be up to the challenge limiting the Falcons chances. The second half saw several more excellent chances for the Mustangs including two shots off the cross bar and one outstanding save from Falcon goalkeeper Hunter Casperson. Mustang goalkeeper Amanda Leal was excellent in the match recording 7 saves total. The second half was as exciting as a half without any goals can be with both teams looking dangerous in spurts. The Mustangs would outshoot the Falcons 17-12 in route to a 2-1 win. It is Delta's first win over Folsom since the Falcon's joined the Big 8 Conference.
