On the Road to Face American River College
The Mustangs would go on the road to face American River College in another Big 8 Conference showdown. The Beavers were tough, building a "dam" of sorts in front of their goal in hopes of slowing the Mustang attack. In spite of this, the Mustangs would still create plenty of first half chances but no goals to show for their efforts at halftime. After a couple of half time adjustments including moving freshman Aliyah Rafael to forward, the Mustangs would jump on the beavers early in the second half. Jay Her would repeat her terrorism of the right flank once again, beating two players and serving a dangerous cross into the area, this time finding the foot of an on rushing Aliyah Rafael, hungry for her first goal of the season. Aliyah's first career goal would hold up as the game winner. Jay Jay Her would later earn yet another assist off of a corner kick, this time meeting the head of Daisy Contreras, her 8th goal of the season in the 61st minute. Amanda Leal would earn the shut out with 5 saves. The win would bring the Mustang record to 12-2-2 and was Coach Sorenson's 100th career win.
Notes: Jay Her had a hand in every goal this week assisting Tuesday's first goal, and scoring the game winner. She had both assists in Friday's win. Her is currently 7th in the state in assists with 12.
Aliyah Rafael scored her first career goal versus American River College, and it was the game winner.
Sorenson's career record is now 100-61-31, all at Delta College.
