Few changes in new State Women's Volleyball Top 25

(PASADENA) -- Sierra College, Long Beach City and newcomer Fullerton made some of the few moves on the fourth 2019 CCCWVCA State Women's Volleyball Top 25 released Monday evening.

Feather River (19-0) did not play last week and continues to be #1-ranked team followed by #2 Irvine Valley, also undefeated at 10-0 and now 3-0 to lead the Orange Empire Conference.

The only move inside the top 10 was Bakersfield (10-2) moving up one place to #9 after a 4-set win over #T25 Canyons while Folsom Lake (8-2) dropped a spot to #10 after Sierra upset the Falcons in a 4-set battle. The Wolverines (10-5) moved up five slots to #16 and currently top the Big 8 standings at 3-0.

Fresno City, at #3, swept #24 Foothill and improved to 15-2. Meanwhile, #4 Grossmont (14-1) has only one blemish (a loss to Glendale-Arizona) as the Griffins are tied with #6 MiraCosta (10-2) for the PCAC lead with 4-0 records. West Valley (8-5) remains at #5, followed by Moorpark (7-3) at #7, and San Joaquin Delta #8 (10-4).

The next tier starts with #11 Pasadena City (11-2) after a pair of South Coast Conference-opening wins, #12 Cypress (6-2), who roared back from down two sets to beat unranked Saddleback in five sets, #13 El Camino (7-4), and #14 San Diego Mesa (12-3), another strong PCAC squad that has won its last 11 matches against CCC teams with the only loss in that stretch to also Glendale-Arizona. Staying at #15 is Chaffey (13-1), a team on a 10-match win streak including a sweep over Butte. The Panthers only loss this year was against SoCal's best in Irvine Valley.

At #17, Santa Rosa (10-4) stretched its win streak to eight, including a 5-set win over #21 San Mateo. The Bear Cubs are followed by #18 Cabrillo (6-3) and #19 American River as the defending state champs won two Big 8 contests and is finally above .500 at 8-6.

Long Beach (7-5) also has recovered from a slow start this year and rose five spots to #20 with two conference wins last week. Another team making a run from a 4-6 season start is the only new team on the Top 25 in #22 Fullerton as the Hornets upset new #23 Orange Coast in a sweep. Fullerton has a pair of 5-set losses this season v. El Camino and Grossmont and took a set from Irvine Valley while scoring 21 points in each of the other three sets in their OEC opener on Sept. 20 (won by Lasers in four).

Solano (12-5) is holding on at the #T25 spot while keeping a streak of 24 consecutive sets won alive during an 8-match win streak plus 4-0 start to lead the Bay Valley Conference.
