Molly Mordaunt-Hummel LHS Hall of Fame Inductee

Molly Mordaunt-Hummel is an enthusiastic and committed volleyball coach, and one of this year's #LHSHallOfFame inductees!
Molly is a lifelong Stocktonian who joined Lincoln Unified as a kindergartner at Mable Barron. For 6th Grade, she moved to Brookside in the first year the school was open to the public. Molly loved soccer, but during her 7th Grade year she went to volleyball tryouts and made the school's lowest ranked team. From 8th Grade onward, volleyball became her sport of choice.
Molly made the JV volleyball team during her freshman year at Lincoln High School. Once she reached the playoffs, Molly already qualified for the varsity level. Molly is thankful for her teammates at LHS, and for Bret Almazan-Cesar, the 11-time California state champion who coached her for three years.
After graduating from LHS in 2000, Molly continued to play Volleyball at University of the Pacific. She took her first coaching job for the freshman volleyball team at St. Mary's High School in 2005. The following year, Molly found herself back at LHS overseeing the Trojan varsity team. But Molly soon set her sights on college volleyball, coaching for San Joaquin Delta College and UOP before committing to Delta College in 2011.
This is Molly's 13th year as Delta College's head volleyball coach. She has led her athletes to an 80 percent win rate and was named one of the 2023 Southwest Region Coaches of the Year. As a coach, Molly commits full-time to her responsibilities, often going to community events to recruit student-athletes. Molly says Delta College's competitive volleyball players are highly motivated and excited for what lies ahead once they transfer to a four-year university. She also uses her knowledge of the game as a professor, teaching theory and a co-ed volleyball class for physical education credits.
Molly tells all LHS students who want to coach volleyball: "Coach for the right reasons: For community, for athletes, to give back."
