Big performances from Gasser and Corio lead Mustangs to 11-5 victory over Folsom Lake

Robert Gasser continued his dominated season with six solid innings of work. Gasser allowed just one run on five hits while striking out nine Folsom Lake batters to improve his record to 9-0.  Gunner Mayer allowed one run in two innings of work. Folsom would score three times in the bottom of the ninth before Jacob Standridge would finish the game by inducing a double play by second baseman Makoa Copp who dove up the middle to snare a line drive and flip to Max Hill covering second base. The Mustangs did not commit an error in the victory.

Offensively the Mustangs came out swinging scoring four runs in the first and three runs in the second. Taison Corio remained red hot at the plate since his return Tuesday from a concussion. Corio went 4-4 with a double and a two rbi triple. In all, five Mustangs collected multiple hits. Zack Mathis had two hits including his sixth home run of the season. Vinny Bologna had two hits and three rbi raising his team leading total to 41. Dillon Tatum singles and doubled in two runs in his return to the lineup after a back injury. Dario Gomez had a pair of singles and an rbi.

The win pushes Delta to 24-6 and 10-4 in Big 8 play and back to the top of the Big 8 standings as Sierra lost to Modesto. Folsom falls to 4-10 and 14-14 overall. The two teams will conclude the series on Saturday at Delta at 1:00.
