Mike Maroney joined Delta College as the Men's Water Polo and Swim Coach in January 2008.  Coach Maroney came to Delta from the University of the Pacific where he served as Aquatics Director and Head Men's Water Polo Coach from 2003-2008.  He also was the Head Women's Water Polo/Physical Education Instructor at Hartwick College from 1999-2003.   As a collegiate head coach, Maroney has compiled a 200 -180 record, including five seasons with 15 or more wins.  Maroney was also named coach of the year on five occasions (ECAC 2001, CWPA 1999 and 2000, USWP 2002 and 2005) and has coached 28 All-Americans and 53 All-Conference student athletes.

In 1999, Maroney earned his master's degree in education from Texas A&M Corpus Christi.  He graduated from the University of the Pacific in 1993, where he received his bachelor's degree in sports sciences.  While attending Pacific, he was an All-Big West Conference swimmer and water polo player.  Before attending Pacific, Maroney was an All-American swimmer at Long Beach City College, where he also helped the water polo team win the 1988 State Championship with a perfect 32-0 record. Coach Maroney was an assistant on the USA National Jr. Team from 1996-1999, as well as the Head Men's & Women's Zone coach for the Southwestern Zone 1996-1999, and the Head Northeastern Women's Zone Coach from 2000-2003. 

Maroney is a native of Baytown, Texas.  He and his wife Jennifer have three children, Clay, Connor, & Tyler and reside in Stockton. Maroney and his wife both compete in masters competition in swimming and water polo.  The most recent was the 2012 World Masters Swimming Championships in Riccione, Italy.
