Delta Sends Home Big 8 Rival Sacramento City

Bakersfield, CA - It took awhile to get going, but once they did it was all San Joaquin Delta on Sunday morning. In a game that was supposed to take place Saturday night, and then was delayed another hour on Sunday morning due to the rain, the Mustangs limited Big 8 Conference rival Sacramento City College and stayed alive in the 2019 CCCAA State Softball Championships with a 2-0 win.

Delta didn't flash much more offense than their opponent, but they did more than enough to get the win. Sophomore Delaney Pamplin scored the game's first run in the bottom of the second when she scored from third on an infield single by sophomore Morgan Wheeler. Delta would plate another in the bottom of the fourth when sophomore Mikaela Ferreira laced a double to center, that brought in sophomore Ashley Duval to make it 2-0.

The Mustangs didn't need much offense since Pamplin dazzled for them in the circle. Pamplin (29-6) pitched a complete game shutout, scattering four hits and a walk over her seven innings. Pamplin also struck out four Sacramento City hitters.

With the win, San Joaquin Delta (38-7) will now take on Palomar College later this evening pending the weather. First pitch is tentatively scheduled for 4:30 PM.
