My58 Superstar: Stockton native helps Taiwanese baseball team win first title in over a decade

STOCKTON, Calif. —Stockton native John Foster recently helped coach the Chinatrust Brothers of the Chinese Professional Baseball League to a major win.

With help from the former Stagg Delta King, the team won their first Taiwan Series title in 11 years. It's the eighth title in franchise history.

"It's that thing: You've got to keep trucking and keep going," Foster said. This year definitely special for not only me, but for the fans, everybody — you could just see it. They were so happy and the parade we had, everything — it was incredible. It really was."

The former 1999 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics champion from Lewis-Clark State, or LCSC, has been the pitching coach for CTBC Brothers for four years and recently signed a two-year extension with the club.

"My biggest thing was to try to get them to visualize being the last person on the mound and knowing that you are unbreakable," Foster said.
