Season Preview
Coming off a 34-12 season and another deep run in the state playoffs that came up just short of reaching the state championships in 2022 the Mustangs should once again be playing well into May this season led by head coach Reed Peters who has the Mustangs not just one of the top junior college programs in the state but in the nation as well on a yearly basis.

"We have seven guys that are already committed to Division I schools for next year on the mound plus three or four others that could eventually commit," said Peters about a pitching staff that he feels has even more depth this season compared to last.

Expected to be among the leaders of that pitching staff are the Ohio State-committed David Rodriguez and LSU-committed Fidel Ulloa as both return from last season. "Those two will probably be our one and two. With our depth, we won't need guys to go seven or eight innings. We have four really good arms in the bullpen to finish games off."

That depth isn't just on the mound but at the plate as well. "We are pretty deep at a lot of positions but especially in the outfield," said Peters. "Brenden O'Sullivan is back and will be playing shortstop for us and several others are back as well. We also added some guys to fortify the lineup a bit."

Grant MacArthur, Cooper Cross, Nick Cook, and Max Mendoza are among the new faces that should help drive in runs after a 2022 season that saw the Mustangs score 398 runs.

"It was nice to have a full fall coming into this season. Guys were able to get out and play summer ball so it was a good off-season and I'm excited to get this season going," said Peters.

The Mustangs will be playing all of their home games this season at the University of the Pacific as the 2023 season gets underway with a three-game series this weekend against Ventura College. The first pitch for their home opener on Friday is scheduled for 2:00 pm with a doubleheader then scheduled for Saturday starting at 10:30 am.
