Pitchers Lead Super Regionals

Pitchers Lead Super Regionals
Behind two impressive pitching performances on Saturday the Mustangs baseball team will continue their pursuit of a state title and they will get to do so in Stockton as they will host Big 8 rival Folsom Lake College in the CCCAA Regional Finals starting on Friday.

This past weekend the Mustangs hosted the CCCAA Super Regional and after being unable to hold on to a ninth inning lead and losing their first game on Friday they were able to bounce back in dominating fashion on Saturday as they defeated Cosumnes River 5-1 and 8-0 to advance in the state playoffs.

Fidel Ulloa was nearly unhittable during the game one win as he allowed just three hits and one run while walking two and striking out 13 in a complete game performance to force a third and deciding game. Tyler Tobey would give the Mustangs the lead for good in the fifth inning as his fifth home run of the season turned a 1-1 game into a 4-1 lead for the Mustangs.

William Watson would take the mound to start the final game, and not only did he follow up one of the best pitching performances of the season, but he turned in an even better one as he allowed just one hit and three walks while striking out 15 in a complete game shutout performance. Brenden O'Sullivan and Grant MacArthur each homered and drove in three runs.

The winner of the best of three Regional Finals this weekend will head to the CCCAA State Championships which starts on May 27th at Folsom Lake College.
