Congrats to our divers today at the NorCal/Big 8 championships! We had great success for our team today with 2 state qualifiers (top 8 overall) and 1 alternate.

 

Tony Arteaga started the day off finishing in 2^nd place on 3m (2^nd Big 8), having a solid meet scoring 185.70. He then stepped his game up on 1m, finishing in 1^st place with a season high score of 222.45. Tony had a last second dive switch, choosing do his harder front double tuck instead of easier inward dive tuck. The result was a 40 point dive, and followed up with a great inward 1.5 tuck which scored a meet high 45.1 points. Also on the guys side was Steven Watan. Steven finished in 12th place overall (8^th place big 8) on 3m. He followed that up with a personal best finish on 1m with a score of 117.65, tied for 9^th overall (7^th Big 8) and is an alternate for the state meet. 

 

On the womens side, Tatem Stevenson led the way. The girls began the day on 1m, with Tatem scoring in her average for the season at 142.30 and a 10^th place finish (second alternate)(6^th Big 8) only 4 points away from a state berth. However, Tatem roared back on the 3m, finishing with a personal best of 151.80 and a 7^th place finish (4^th Big 8). Because she finished in the top 8 on 1m, she will have the opportunity to compete both the 1m and 3m events in East LA. The final Delta competitor was Mackenzie Lincoln. She completed her first ever 3m event in 15^th place (9^th Big 8) with a score of 90.55. She rounded out her season on 1m with a final score of 93.35, 21^st place (10^th Big 8)
