SAN BERNARDINO - San Joaquin Delta College tightened its grips on the top spot in the weekly CCCSIA Women's Soccer Poll, after coming off a week with two victories to move to 13-0 on the season.
Delta got seven of the eight first place votes in the weekly poll of sports information professionals this week. The Mustangs play a pair of nonconference games this week before facing off with No. 4 Folsom Lake (9-0-2) on Oct. 26 and No. 8 Sierra (10-1) on Oct. 29.
Meanwhile, down south, Santiago Canyon (11-0-1) took over the top spot in the Orange Empire Conference with a 1-0 victory over previously unbeaten No. 7 Cypress (8-1-1). The Hawks received the other first place vote. But nipping at their heels is their fellow OEC unbeaten Saddleback (9-0-2) at No. 3 in the polls.
Coast-North leader San Francisco (10-1) moved into the No. 5 spot, with Rio Hondo (10-1) taking the sixth spot in the poll.
Ventura (10-2-2) and Hartnell (11-2-2) round out the Top 10 at nine and 10 respectively. From there, it is a tight group of teams fighting to move up into the crowded field.
Twelve points separate teams 11-14 in the poll, with Fresno (9-2-2) sitting at No. 11, Los Positas (10-2-1) at No. 12, Inland Empire Athletic leader Chaffey (11-3-1) at No. 13, and Mt. San Antonio (9-2-2) at No. 14.
