Women’s Swim and Dive Big 8 Championships - Day 2

Prelims:

We kicked the morning off with the 400 Individual Medley, swam by both Ellie fox and Emma York. Ellie placed 4th overall and Emma placed 9th overall, both earning the chance to swim it again at the finals in the night session. Ellie swam a 5:12.15. Emma went a 6:01.09.
 
After the 400 IM we moved straight into the 100 Fly where Jenna Bigelow swam. She placed 8th overall, making the finals, with the time of 1:03.78.
Following the 100 fly came the 200 free where Kennedy Brubaker, Kenna Dooley, Ashley Van Diggelen, and Ariana Muñoz. Kenna placed 2nd overall with a time of 2:00.69. Kennedy placed 4th overall with a time of 2:01.. Ashley went a 2:18.26 placing 14th overall. Ariana placed 13th with a time of 2:17.33.
In the 100 Breaststroke, Esmeralda De La Torre placed 8th overall swimming a 1:15.26.
 
In the 100 backstroke Dillan DeLeon, Ally Ratto, and Bella Servin all swam best times. Dillan placed 16th with a time of 1:14.08. Ally Ratto placed 4th by swimming a 1:05.17. Bella went a 1:20.45 and placed 18th overall.
 
Finals:
The girls came to play when it got to the night session of Day 2. They were on fire tonight. Almost everyone dropped time or moved up an overall position tonight. We scored lots of points helping us be 5th overall out of the Big 8 Conference.
 
Started off with the 200 Medley Relay, Dillan DeLeon (back), Kaitlynn DeSimone (breaststroke), Ariana Muñoz (butterfly), and Ashley Van Diggelen (freestyle) worked together to place 6th place overall. They swam a 2:10.72.
 
In the 400 IM Ellie and Emma both got the chance to swim in the final and the console heats. Emma swam first in the console heat placing 1st in that heat, and 9th overall. For only her second time swimming the event, she dropped more time since the morning session. She dropped 5 more seconds and finished with a 5:56.50. Ellie swam in the final heat placing 4th overall. She finished her race in a 5:10.17 and dropped 2 seconds from the morning session.
 
In the 100 Fly, Jenna Bigelow got the chance to swim her race again. She used this opportunity to drop just under a second of time. She touched the wall at the 7th position, making her 7th overall in the 100 fly. She finished at a 1:03.42.
 
The 200 free was stacked with all four of our swimmers. Kennedy Brubaker and Kenna Dooley swam in the final heat of the event, while Ashley Van Diggelen and Ariana Muñoz swam in the console heat. Ariana dropped 2 seconds since her morning swim. Finishing in a time of 2:15.80 and 13th overall. Ashley finished in a 2:18.43 and finished 15th overall. Kenna placed 4th overall coming in at a 2:02.16. Kennedy moved up two positions, finishing 2nd overall from 4th in prelims. She finished in a 2:00.24. Kennedy dropped 1 second from this morning.
 
Esmeralda De La Torre got the chance to swim the 100 breaststroke again in the final heat of the night session. She went in as 8th place and finished 7th overall. She dropped one second from her morning event and went a 1:14.64.
 
Dillan DeLeon and Ally Ratto both got to compete in the P.M session of the 100 backstroke event. Dillan swam in the console heat finishing 15th overall from 16th, and dropping 2 second from the morning. She touched the wall at a 1:12.98. Ally swam In the final heat and finished 4th overall. She swam her 100 back in a 1:05.82.
 
The 800 Freestyle Relay was the closing event of night 2. Jenna Bigelow, Ally Ratto, Kenna Dooley, and Kennedy Brubaker all worked together to go from a 5th seed to then finish as 3rd overall. Each of the girls swam a 200 Freestyle and the relay itself finished at a 8:13. 41. This was a 31 SECOND DROP since the previous entry time swim. Jenna swam her leg of the race is a 2:05.42, Ally a 2:03.14, Kenna a 2:02.97, and Kennedy a 2:01.88.
 

We are so proud of the girls for all their hard work in both sessions and can't wait for another great day at the pool!
