Women’s Swim Final Day Recap Big 8 Champs

Prelims:

We started the morning off with the 200 Backstroke. Dillan DeLeon and Ally Ratto both swam this and both dropped time from their entry times. Dillan placed 14th overall and swam a 2:39.24. Ally placed 4th overall with a time of 2:24.61.
In the 100 Freestyle Kenna Dooley, Emma York, and Bella Servin all swam this event. Kenna placed 7th overall, she dropped 2 seconds with a time of 56.48. Emma swam a 1:06.11 dropping 2 seconds from her previous time. Emma placed 23rd overall. Bella dropped 1 second from her previous time, placing 26th overall. Bella swam it in a 1:08.00
Kaitlynn DeSimone and Ellie Fox both swam the 200 Breaststroke. Ellie placed 9th overall with a time of 2:48.54. She dropped 9 seconds. Kaitlynn swam a 2:50.79 placing 10th overall. This time is a 7 second drop for Kaitlynn.
Jenna Bigelow placed overall in her 200 butterfly with a time of 2:24.82. This is a 5 second drop from her entry time.
 
Finals:
To kick off the final session of the Big 8 Championship we had three swimmers swim the 1650 (mile) Freestyle. For the first time swimming this event, Ashley Van Diggelen placed 9th overall. She swam it in a 20:55.87, exceeding all expectations. Ariana Muñoz placed 11th overall dropping over a minute from her entry time. She went from 22:50.07 to a 21:42.79. Kennedy Brubaker became a Back-to-back 1650 Big 8 champion with her 18:26.80 time. She went in at the 2nd seed and came out on top. She dropped 37 seconds from her seed time.
The 200 back followed suit, Dillan DeLeon swam in the console heat of the backstroke. She dropped 2 seconds from the morning session. She went from a 2:39.24 to a 2:37.27. She placed 13th overall, dropping from her previous 14th overall seed. Ally Ratto swam in the final heat placing 4th overall. She dropped 3 seconds from her morning swim. She swam it in a 2:21.55 from her morning 2:24.61.
Kenna Dooley swam her 100 free in a 55.75. She dropped a little under a second when compared to her morning session swim. She moved from 7th seed into the 6th seed after her swim. This time is a lifetime best for Kenna!
Both Ellie Fox and Kaitlynn DeSimone swam the 200 Breaststroke in the console heat of finals. Together they made it a "Delta showdown". They were ranked 9th (Ellie) and 10th (Kaitlynn) going into consoles and finished in the same ranking. Ellie went 2 seconds faster with a time of 2:46.51. This is a lifetime best for Ellie. Kaitlynn dropped 2 seconds as well going a 2:48.97. This is a lifetime best for Kaitlynn!
Jenna Bigelow same the 200 Butterfly for the second time of the day. She swam it in a 2:25.09. She moved up a rank by going from 6th place to 5th place overall!
We finished the meet off with the 400 freestyle relay. Everyone one who swam this weekend swam the final event of the entire championship event. The "A"relay that consisted of Kenna Dooley, Ally Ratto, Jenna Bigelow, and Kennedy Brubaker placed 2nd overall in a time of 3:44.78. This is a 16 second drop from everything they have done in the earlier season. Kennedy went a 55.56, Kenna a 55.80, Ally a 56.24, and Jenna a 57.18. The "B" relay, Dillan DeLeon, Esmeralda De La Torre, Ellie Fox, and Kaitlynn DeSimone swam their relay in a 4:00.26. Dillan went a 1:00.96, Esme a 59.07, Kaitlynn a 1:01.77, and Ellie a 58.15. The "C" relay, Ashley Van Diggelen, Bella Servin, Emma York, and Ariana Muñoz. They swam their race in a 4:22.90. Ashley went a 1:05.64, Ariana went a 1:03.60, Bella went a 1:08.43, and Emma a 1:05.23.

Overall we placed 5th in the Big 8 with an overall score of 478 points.
