Season Preview - Track and Field
Shot puts and javelins will start to take flight later today as the track and field season gets underway for the Mustangs at the Jim Lithicum Invitational taking place at De Anza.

"Me and Coach Seales are very happy with the team we have right now," said men's head coach Les Anthony after their final practice before this weekend's meet. "We have a full group of incoming freshmen, we are excited about the team, excited about the athletes and we are looking forward to another successful season. "One of our state qualifiers from last year is Isabella Popejoy in the women's hammer throw and she's looking to break the school record this season. "Others expected to have big seasons include Tim Miles in the hurdles, Tiffaeni Bell in the women's sprints, and Nicholas Clemons in the discus throw. "It's hard for me to pick where we are the strongest", said Anthony.

"John Sandoval is a men's distance runner and is a returning state qualifier in cross country," said Anthony before also mentioning Hannah Gaines and Steevie Ruiz as runners to watch on the women's side as well.

"We have some good quality depth especially in the sprints. We mostly have incoming freshmen, but they have showed us that they are very talented. I think in the jumps on both sides we are going to be really strong as well. "For the most part we have athletes in each event group who are very talented and have the ability to qualify for state."

The starter's gun for that pursuit of a state title will first get fired this weekend.
