Mustang of the Month - March

Ashonti Brown - Women's Track & Field

Ashonti continues to make history in Delta College Track & Field. She recently broke her own school record in the 100m hurdles, a record that originally stood untouched since 1983 by Kelly Hunt. Competing at the highly competitive Mangrum Invite hosted by San Marcos University, Ashonti placed 1st among collegiate athletes in the 100m hurdlesand 2nd in the 400m hurdles, just 0.5 seconds away from breaking another long-standing record held by Arlene Van Warmerdam since 1980. Her dominance across both hurdle events, consistency in major invites, and potential to rewrite multiple school records make her a standout student-athlete and a strong contender for Athlete of the Month.

Jake Todden - Men's Track & Field
Jake has been nothing short of dominant this season. He is currently ranked 1st in the state in the hammer throw with a massive mark of 56.90 meters, just one foot shy of the Delta College school record. He also holds the 2nd-best mark in the state in the shot put with 16.66 meters, and he continues to prove himself across all three throws shot put, hammer, and discus. Jake has won 90% of the meets he’s competed in this season and is cementing his legacy as one of the most well-rounded and successful throwers in Delta history. His versatility, competitive consistency, and championship-level performance make him an invaluable asset to the program.

Both Ashonti and Jake exemplify excellence, leadership, and a relentless work ethic. They are clear choices for Delta College’s Athletes of the Month.
