Mustangs' woes continue in home loss to Diablo Valley

Delta came in to today's match up with Diablo Valley as the #1 ranked team in the just realeased CCCBCA poll. At the end of the day it sure did not appear that way as the Mustangs fell 7-2. The Vikings jumped on Delta starter Kevin Kyle early. With a strong wind blowing out to left field, the Vikings connected for a two-run home run in the second, and a grand slam in the top of the third to take a 6-0 lead that would never be threatened. Delta's bullpen was the lone bright spot as Zach McHone, Troy Wentworth, Jonathon Pierce and Jake Standridge threw the last 6 1/3 innings allowing just one run.

Offensively the Mustangs' struggles continued as the only managed three hits on what should have been a great day to hit. Vinny Bologna collected two of the three hits. With the loss the Mustangs fall to 13-4 overall and 2-2 in the Big 8 while the Vikings improve to 8-8 overall and 1-3 after being swept by league leading Sierra College last week.

The two teams are scheduled to play again Thursday at Diablo Valley College
