A match up of Big 8 powerhouses resulted in a lopsided victory for Delta College. The Mustangs dominated game one of a three game series in every phase of the game. The top ranked Delta College beat #3 ranked Sacramento City College 13-2 in Sacramento. Kevin Kyle was dominant in going seven shutout innings allowing just two hits, one walk with seven strikeouts. Gunner Mayer recorded three strikeouts in his one innings while Troy Wentworth threw a scoreless ninth.

The Mustangs pounded out 15 hits in the victory. Vinny Bologna and Anthony Lucchetti  collected three hits a piece while Dillon Tatum and Thomas Greely had two each. Much of the damage was done in a 6 run fifth inning. Makoa Copp hit his first home run of the year in the ninth inning.

With the win Delta improves to 19-4 overall and 5-2 in the powerful Big 8 conference. Sacramento City falls to 17-6 and 7-3 in conference play. Delta will host the Panthers on Thursday at 2:30.
