Season Preview - Baseball

Since going 43-9 and capturing the state championship in 2018 the Mustangs have consistently been playing deep into the postseason as they have gone 37-11, 34-12, and 39-9 over the last three full seasons and hopes are once again that they will be playing until the end of May looking for another state title. It has been a season of streaks for the Mustangs so far as they have played some of the best competition not just in the area but from SoCal as well before recently starting Big 8 Conference play by taking two of three games against Sierra. Now 12-7 on the season the Mustangs have won seven of their last eight games with an offense that is nearly averaging ten runs a game on the season. With a steady mix of newcomers and sophomores the Mustangs have seven players with at least ten runs batted in this season led by Dominic Rodriguez who has 21 runs batted in along with a team-best four home runs. With multiple great options to take the mound it's Tyson Pereira who has pitched a team-high 26.2 innings, but six others have made at least one start with four different pitchers all with two wins on the season. A three-game series against Modesto starts on Tuesday with the Mustangs hosting game one at 2:00pm at the University of the Pacific.
