Coach Gregory was a 1991 graduate from Modesto High School. Before enlisting in the US Army in 1992. He served in the US Army from 1992-1995 where he was the 101st Airborne Air Assault School Road March Champion in 1992 as a member of the C 2/320 FA. He then attended San Joaquin Delta College from 1995-1997 and was a member of the College of Idaho 1998 NAIA National Championship baseball team.

Coach Gregory completed his Master of Science degree in Sports Science with emphasis in Sports Psychology from the United States Sports Academy in 2013. He is married to Lisa and has 3 children, Josh, Macie and Halie.

Nate was the pitching coach at Oakdale High School from 2004-2013 and the Head Baseball coach from 2014-2017. During his tenure at Oakdale, the Mustangs won 6 CIF Section Titles and developed 12 Division I pitchers (3 NCAA W.S. appearances, 1 NCAA National Champion), 3 NAIA pitchers (2 NAIA W.S. appearances) along with 3 Division II pitchers.

Under Coach Gregory's guidance, the 2018 Pirates Pitching Staff ranked 11th in the state in strikeouts with 338. Highlighted by FR LHP All Big 8 pitcher Kevin Duffy(86 K's), SO RHP Dylan Dudley (61 K's-Cal State East Bay) and FR RHP Blane Abeyta(5 saves-UNR commit).

The 2019 pitching staff was one of the most dominant staffs in the state. Highlighted by Division 1 commits Blane Abeyta (UNR), Tanner Shears (Sac State) and Landon Curtis (UOP). The Pirates ranked 10th in the state in strikeouts and 15th in ERA.

The 2020 season was cut short by COVID and the 2021 season was completely cancelled. The staff was highlighted by Tyler Stout (UOP) and Brett Hagen (University of Oakland).

The 2022 saw additional Division 1 commitments from Trent Prokes and Treven Crowley (CSU Bakersfield). This staff included multiple commitments to DII and top NAIA programs. A total of 6 pitchers received scholarships.

Coach Gregory served the Pirates as the Interim Head Baseball Coach for the 2023 season. The Pirates finished the season 23-18 and captured their first playoff series win in 20 seasons. The team was highlighted by NCAA D1 signees Lucas Alaniz (Cal), Adan Perez (CSU Northridge), Dustin Tinsley (Fresno State) and Clay Longinotti (San Jose State).
