Season Preview - Football
Heading into the third game of the season tomorrow morning at College of Sequoias the Mustangs are looking to return home with their first win as they have played two one-score games that have seen them tied in the second half before losing by a touchdown to Contra Costa and Shasta.

In their most recent game against Shasta the Mustangs turned a 24-6 deficit into a 25-24 lead in the second half before eventually falling by a 45-38 final score. With two new quarterbacks seeing action this season it was Nick Coronado who passed for 156 yards and two touchdowns while the dual-threat Kenyon Nelson passed for 46 yards while leading the team with 69 yards rushing and two scores.

After averaging just 69 yards a game rushing the ball last season the Mustangs have more than doubled that as they have rushed for 146 yards a game while passing for 181 yards a game. While Nelson has led the rushing attack it is sophomore Devyon Coleman that is the main target when they throw the football as he caught nine passes for 220 yards and three touchdowns.

Sophomore linebacker G'koby Winn is one of the leading tacklers back from last season and he has led the way on the defensive side of the ball with 19 tackles and two sacks through the first two games.

All home games this season are held at McNair High School and the Mustangs will host Sierra on Saturday September 23rd at 1:00pm.
