Campbell, Blas Shine for 3CFCA Honors

LOS ANGELES — Sophomore center fielder Caitlynn Campbell (No. 5 San Joaquin Delta College) and sophomore righty Tatiana Blas (No. 10 Cosumnes River College) dominated opponents on their way to earning California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association Player and Pitcher of the Week honors.

Campbell earned her first weekly recognition by leading the Mustangs to five wins in six games. The sophomore was seeing a beach ball at the plate, smashing six homers and driving in 11 runs on nine total extra-base hits. Overall, Campbell batted .625, scored 13 runs and played perfect defense.

Blas, who is named the 3CFCA Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season, edged out other stellar nominations with a lights-out week. The right-hander appeared in three games, completing the two she started in (including one shutout), and only allowed one run in nearly 19 innings. In the Big 8, Blas is second in ERA (1.08), third in wins (16), and first in strikeouts (172).
