Season Preview - Women's Soccer
Coming off a 2022 season that saw the Mustangs reach the Final Four for the third time in the past four seasons the expectations are once again high for a deep postseason run in pursuit of their first ever state championship.

Led by head coach Adrienne Sorenson they opened the season with a trip down to Southern California where they tested a team filled with newcomers with their first college experience coming against the defending state champions. It was also a final four rematch which saw them end up on the losing side of a 1-0 final score against Saddleback. While the trip ended up with them also dropping a 2-1 final against Mt. San Antonio College it was another high-level game as they tested themselves early in the season with the hope to find their way back to Mt. SAC in December for the Final Four.

Returning back to Northern California the Mustangs picked up their first win of the season with a 4-0 win at College of Sequoias before an 11-0 win in their home opener over Taft that saw Elle Hillar, Isabella Gelao, and Annika Beall combine in goal for the shutout.

With three goal keepers that saw no time in goal for the Mustangs last season the talented Elle Hillar has started the season as their starter in net after redshirting last season while true freshmen Gelao and Beall will back up Hillar and have seen time in goal already this season.

With so many new faces making their debuts already this season for the Mustangs they do have a few faces that teams will certainly recognize from last season as sophomore Jaedyn Sanders has followed up a sensational summer by already scored four goals and captain Natalie O'Sullivan has scored in three of the first four games this season. Katie Garcia Flores also returns after a 13-goal freshmen season and along with Sanders will make up one of the most feared attacking duos in the state. Sophomore Makenzie Hewison is also back to lead the backline.

They will be playing at home for three straight Tuesdays as they take on Evergreen Valley this Tuesday September 12th at 5:30.
